The vaquita is the world’s most endangered marine mammal, on the brink of extinction within our lifetime. These porpoises are found only in Mexico’s Sea of Cortez & at last estimate, 9 remain. Only NINE of these magnificent creatures are left in our world. The vaquita population has dramatically declined in recent years due to illegal fishing & trafficking of yet another vulnerable species, the totoaba fish. These small porpoises (& other species) become entangled as bycatch in the vast mesh gillnets & ultimately drown.
Half (50%) of the proceeds from the "Save the Vaquita" Collection will be contributed directly to Sea Shepherd Conservation Society in order to help support its impactful, ongoing Operation Milagro ("Miracle") campaign. They work to deter poaching & have removed over 1,200 pieces of illegal fishing gear from the vaquita refuge thus far, saving countless lives & giving this species a chance at survival. "Prints with Purpose" is an ongoing & evolving charitable initiative within BLUE ADAPTATION where we identify conservation issues close to our heart & design associated capsule collections in order to raise awareness for these causes. Half of all product proceeds are then donated to dedicated organizations making a difference in these areas.
